Change an ingredient in your video

Swapping a character, product, logo, style, or voice in a single shot is done by describing the change in chat — there's no dedicated dropdown for a one-shot swap.

What's an ingredient

Ingredients are the reusable pieces you bring into a video — characters, objects/products, logos, styles, and voices — managed in your project's ingredient library and referenced in prompts with @name.

Swap an ingredient in one shot

Use chat for a one-off change to a single shot:

  • "Swap @Erica for @Rebecca in shot 3"

  • "Add @GlowSerum to shot 2"

  • "Feature @Rebecca instead"

This works for adding, removing, or swapping a prop, product, logo, or character in that specific shot only.

Swap an ingredient throughout your video

To replace an ingredient consistently everywhere it appears, you have two options:

Via chat

Describe the change without limiting it to a shot:

  • "Replace @Erica with @Rebecca everywhere"

  • "Swap @GlowSerum for @HydraGlow across the whole video"

Via the Refs tab

  1. Open the Refs tab to see every character, object, and voice used in the composition.

  2. Pick a replacement from the dropdown next to the one you want to change.

  3. Confirm.

Either way, every shot or track where that ingredient appears gets regenerated, for a shown credit cost. Chat is faster if you already know exactly what to swap — Refs gives you a visual list of everything currently in your video.
